I am telling you about her because I want YOU TO KNOW that not every homeless person is an annoying panhandler who is pushy for cash. Not every homeless person is a drug dealer who is looking for sex and drugs. Robin's Story: August 2009 Robin her daughter Kayla who is 19, were put out due to family problems. At the time, she was living with her older daughter and their family. Robin contacted her son and he let them stay, but instead of showing his mother the love she gave to him, he kicked them. He dumped them at the Nashville Rescue Mission. Three days later Robin found herself getting really sick. She walked the 11 blocks to the nearest hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia. While she was in the hospital, her and her daughter's beds were taken by another homeless family. They lived on the streets. A mother and daughter living on the streets in America is not a safe thing. A kind stranger warned her that the police were picking up homeless people and locking them up. Fearing for her and her daughter's safety, Robin went to Tent City--a homeless community in Tennessee. Robin and Kayla have been on the move. They went to Kentucky to stay with a friend but that didn't work out. She tried her daughter again. Her own family turned against her. I totally know what she is going through as my mother and I have been there. Our family didn't want us either. Wendell Segroves, according to Robin, was and is their guardian angel. He opened his home--a tent-- to them and made sure they had food and were safe. Robin had high hopes that things would work out with their families so she tried again. Things were starting to work out with her other daughter until she kicked them out. Again her son and his wife came to her rescue and Robin discovered that they too, were homeless along with Robin's 7 year old granddaughter. Robin and her family are just a fraction of many of America's 3,000,000 + homeless. That's right, over three million Americans are homeless. Shelters are full and are doing the best they can, but they are not enough. We as Americans have got to come together and come up with a solution. WE CAN RAISE MILLIONS FOR HAITI IN MERE HOURS Why can't we do the same for AMERICA? This is Robin's message to anyone who is homeless This is to let anyone who is homeless especially with children to seek help. Call you homeless agency and let them help you they have most likely been where you are now. Don't be ashamed. We are not ashamed. My name is Robin and I am 18, my daughter is 19 and yes we are homeless May God bless you and keep you safe! Comment! (1) | Recommend! (1) Nonprofit Status Sunday. 2.14.10 12:53 pm I just wanted to update everyone on the Art4TH Nonprofit Status. Some time this year, the IRS is coming out with the new Cyber Assistant program for the 501c3 nonprofit organizations that are applying. With this, there will be a $200 processing fee which is better than the new $400 fee. I have the money to go ahead with the $400 fee but I want to wait and see if this Cyber Assistance thing works because it would be so nice to save the money. Also, if anyone doesn't use the Cyber Assistant the processing fee will be $850. Comment! (1) | Recommend! (0) | Recommend! Happy New Year 2010! Thursday. 12.31.09 8:51 pm A new day has come. A new month has come, and a New Year is once again upon us. I barely had time to say good bye to 2008 when 2009 came and went. So as we embrace 2010, I want to say this to everyone: Thank you, my friends and online friends, thank you, Lord Jesus, thank you, who are supportive of Art4TH. I give thanks that I have a roof over my head, my mother is alive, and I am in contact with her cousin and his wife. I ask God to bless them. I thank God for my job and my coworkers who are like a little family. For all the people who have turned their back on my friendship, I ask God to bless you doubly for you were in my life for a reason. For all you who I have offended, I did not intend to offend. I apologize and ask for forgiveness. And I also forgive myself. In 2010, I will not harbor guilt of past sins and will now harbor resentment of sins against me. What is done, is done. The only thing we can do is move on and I choose to move on with love in my heart, not hate or bitterness. I ask that God blesses each and everyone of you who are reading this. Happy New Year everyone. Let us treasure each moment we have with our loved ones this year. Comment! (1) | Recommend! Merry Christmas Monday. 12.21.09 10:51 pm I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May you have many blessings this Christmas.
